Two years have passed since the genocide on Gaza began in October 2023.
730 days and nights of unimaginable loss, displacement, and destruction.
For Palestinians everywhere, this period has been one of collective grief, endurance, and steadfastness (sumud) in the face of a catastrophe that has reshaped every aspect of life.
At the Galilee Foundation, we honour every student and every teacher who continues to study and teach despite the occupation, displacement, and trauma.
On Sunday, 5th October, Al Azhar University in Gaza City was targeted again and completely destroyed while people were sheltering inside.
Our mission to empower Palestinian youth through education feels more urgent than ever. Even in the face of destruction, the determination to learn, rebuild, and hope endures.
We believe that learning is itself an act of resistance and a declaration of hope.
Through our work supporting disadvantaged Palestinian youth in Israel, uplifting teachers and students in Gaza, and giving students in occupied East Jerusalem a brighter future, we see every day that education is the most powerful tool.
We reaffirm our commitment to support that resilience and to uphold the right of every person to live in safety, dignity, and freedom.
May education continue to plant seeds of hope, dignity, and peace.
