On Sunday, September 7th, 2025, the Yaffa Youth Movement celebrated the opening of its new home on Gaza Street, inside a historical building nestled in the Ajami neighborhood of Yaffa.
The opening brought together community members, partners, and friends in a warm atmosphere filled with joy, music, and a shared sense of belonging – where the present meets the city’s living memory.
The programme began with welcoming words about the house’s history and its partner organisations, followed by a walking tour in Ajami led by Sami Abu-Shahadeh, and concluded with a collective discussion about the role of youth and the importance of reclaiming communal spaces in Yaffa.
For the Yaffa Youth Movement, this house is more than just a physical space: it represents a renewal of spirit and connection after years of challenges.
Its walls carry the weight of history and the hope of the future. It is a space where Yaffa’s youth can dream and create together, a living reminder that culture and community are inseparable.
The new space will serve as an open hub for collaboration between local institutions, artists, and residents – a shared ground for initiatives rooted in memory, culture, and collective action.
The opening marks a new chapter in the journey of the Yaffa Youth Movement, one that bridges the city’s enduring heritage with the voices and aspirations of its young generation.
