This June, the Galilee Foundation celebrated the graduation of 7o of its students from the Scholarship Programme and from their course of studies. Most of these had been supported by Galilee for three years and their journey with the Foundation was one of learning, giving and growth, during which they received financial help and training, and gave back to their community through our volunteer activities. Our students graduate from the programme to start their careers with more confidence, more skills, knowledge as well as a strong sense of commitment to their communities.
Some took to the stage at the graduation event and spoke about their experience and expressed their gratitude to the Programme, its team and supporters.
Peter Hanna, who graduated in Mapping and Geo-Information Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering at the Technion, Haifa, the leading university in technology studies, said: “I’ve been with the Programme for three years and like all my fellow graduates who are here today, I consider myself fortunate to be part of the Programme that gave me the opportunity to expand my horizons, to open up to others, to deploy and enhance my Arabic language and culture and to empower my sense of belonging to my community and people.’ He continued: ‘As part of the Palestinian community in Israel, we really need such frameworks and programmes, programmes that reach out to students, a group with the promise and the potential to serve for the good of our society.’
This October, we will be welcoming dozens of new scholarship recipients who will be joining the Programme for three years or more.
